911: Your Lifeline on The Phoneline

Accidents and terrible things happen – car crashes, hold-ups, household accidents and every other natural and man-made disaster that can cause danger to the lives of people everywhere. What's more, these things happen all over the country everyday, at every hour. Because of this, it makes us feel better to know that there are people and experts who are always on standby to come to the rescue.

The 911 Emergency Team – We've seen them on television, rushing to the nearest disaster or accident in order to rescue and give treatment to different victims. The 911 Team is a huge organization made up of many people with various specializations. The first team you will encounter from 911 when you do make a call are the phone dispatchers. They are the ones who listen to your call and get all the necessary information they need in order to figure out who to send to you.

If your house is on fire and your mom has fainted because of the smoke, then whoever took your call will make sure that the fire fighters and medics make their way to your house. If your child fell from the tree and is bleeding, then they send just the medics. If you call to say that a man attacked you and shot you while trying to steal your bag, then your 911 operator will dispatch the cops to go after the shooter, and the medics so they can perform emergency treatment on you and bring you to the hospital.

The wonderful thing about the 911 Emergency operators is that they stay with you on the phone until the necessary rescue team arrives. They are trained to keep you calm, and keep talking about what is happening while the rescue team isn't with you yet. That way, they can keep updated about the necessary measures they have to take to help you, as well as make you feel that you're not alone.
